I recently lost my husband the love of my life. No, he wasn't sick, nor was it expected. He was 43 years young, and we thought we would have a lifetime together. God had different plans and came and tapped him on the shoulder March 20, 2025.

I am saying this to bring awareness that no one knows the day, the hour, or the minute of their passing. As a licensed broker, I speak to people all day who do not have any type of burial or life insurance in place. They always seem to have 1001 reasons or excuses why.

I look at people with their perfectly manicured nails and beautiful hairdos, and inwardly, I am shaking my head. I look at the Jordan's on their children's feet, and I glance around their homes and take in the multiple Play station’s and/or iPhone's/tablets. I also notice the children are eating fast food because hardly anyone cooks dinner anymore. I want to scream at them," Get your priorities straight!!!"

People we have got to do better. Aren't you tired of having to buy a catfish dinner or t-shirt when our loved ones pass on? Most of the time, you can purchase burial insurance for the same cost as a trip to McDonald's for your family.

Couples with children, you should be looking into life insurance. If you pass away, what have you left to provide for your spouse and children in your absence? Do you realize that when you leave this earth, your family loses your income as well? Now, what are they going to do?

Parents who are up in age, due to your health situation and age, burial insurance will undoubtedly be a little higher. However, losing a parent is difficult enough without having to wonder where you are going to get the funds to bury your loved one.

Final thought:

We all know we are going to leave this earth one day. We just don't know when. Please PleasePlease have a talk with your spouse tonight and make sure your loved ones are taken care of in the event God taps you on the shoulder.

Insurance is the definition of love for the ones you are leaving behind.
